Hair Mineral Analysis Testing

Hair Mineral Analysis Testing

What is Hair Mineral Analysis?

Hair mineral analysis is a test which measures the amount of nutrient and toxic minerals found in hair.

It is a non-invasive, safe test needing only a small amount of your hair. The results can be taken as a reflection of nutrient and toxic minerals occurring in other tissues of the body.

Which Conditions are Affected by Mineral Imbalance?

Conditions such as Acne, Alzheimer’s disease, Anaemia, Anxiety, Arthritis, autoimmune diseases, cancers, Depression, Diabetes, Digestive problems, Fatigue, Hair loss, Poor nails, Headaches and Migraines, Hormonal imbalance, hyperactivity in children, Infertility in men and women, Insomnia, learning difficulties, Memory problems, Mood swings, Muscle cramps, Osteoporosis, PMS, Skin problems, Stress, Thyroid Problems, Poor wound healing. These improve once the mineral deficiency is restored or the toxicity reduced.

Why Test for Minerals?

Minerals are essential for the efficient functioning of the body. Correcting a specific deficiency goes a long way to restoring health. Minerals are:

  • Essential for maintaining health: They are an integral component of the body, being needed for growth, healing, vitality and wellbeing. To ensure good health, you may want to be sure that you are not lacking any.
  • Depleted in many diets: Even though Nature intended us to get all the minerals we need from a balanced diet, farming techniques, fertilisers and depleted soils reduce the mineral content of foods and so deficiencies are common.
  • Toxic minerals are a health hazard: Environmental pollutants and chemical food additives, leads to the possible over-exposure of toxic metals such as aluminium, lead, arsenic and mercury, while a stressful lifestyle puts health and mineral status at risk.
  • Many illnesses are aggravated by deficiencies: Knowing if there is a mineral deficiency or excess or if toxic metals are present enables more effective treatment of health conditions which are aggravated by mineral imbalances or toxicity. Such conditions include cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, migraines, learning difficulties and hyperactivity in children.

What Happens After Testing?

Once your small sample of hair has been tested, you are provided with a personalised report that shows your current mineral status and areas of concern. Your naturopath will recommend dietary changes and nutrient supplements for improving your mineral status, and toxic heavy metal clearance.

This will result in your health condition and general wellbeing improving.
